Reflecting on the events of 2020…

As we head into the last few days before Christmas it’s pouring with rain here at EquiAmi HQ, which seems rather fitting after the stressful and crazy year we’ve had! Last-minute rule changes mean that many people will be spending the holiday apart from family and friends, so it will be down to our horses to cheer us up. Thank goodness for horses!

I know that without my four-legged friends the past year would have been even harder to bear, and I’m thankful to be able to go out and spend time with them and forget that Covid-19 even exists. The pandemic certainly altered the way EquiAmi does business… The cancellation of equestrian sport and events for so much of the year meant the EquiAmi trade stand stayed in its case instead of out on the road.  Where I would usually have spent Badminton Horse Trials soaking up the atmosphere and meeting lots of lovely horse owners, we’ve had to crack on with life online instead.

I have to say a very big thank you to everyone who has supported EquiAmi during 2020. The year has been tough for every one of us but every like and comment on social media, every lovely review and recommendation and every purchase has helped us survive the year. A business is nothing without its customers and I count myself very lucky to have you all.

I’m also proud that, despite the uncertainty of the year, I’ve managed to tick some of my key aims for EquiAmi off the list. When I took over the business, I wanted to ensure it was as eco-friendly as possible, so I’ve been working hard to source and test packaging that was recyclable and reusable. I’m delighted to say that in 2020 we finally moved to totally plastic-free and green packaging for the EquiAmi. I also wanted to have greater oversight and control of the production process to ensure we always provide the highest quality product to our customers. In order to achieve that, I moved the assembly of the EquiAmi entirely to the UK and have streamlined to one, premium style of the training aid.

I’ve also been working on plans for 2021 so that after the (rather quiet!) Christmas holidays I can crack straight on and work hard on growing the business. One of the most exciting projects I’m working on is a new website for EquiAmi, which we can all agree is somewhat overdue! As we look set to live our lives online for a few more months it’s essential to make it as easy for our customers to find the information they need and make the checkout process straightforward.

All that’s left to say is Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all – here’s hoping 2021 turns out to be kinder to us than this year has been. It’s quite a low bar, isn’t it?!
